Abstract

One of the important topics in stylistics and grammar is the recognition of noun phrases in a poem. In order to understand a poet’s personal style, along with other factors, the structure and style of the noun phrase used in his poetry must be well evaluated. Among the poets of the revolution, Nasrollah Mardani is one of the few who has done e imagery. Through a descriptive-analytical method, this study seeks to examine the structure of the noun phrases in the poems of Mardani. All the noun phrases are counted and reviewed in three types including pentapartite, quadripartite, and triplex. Also, the number and variety of those phases are shown in corresponding tables. The findings of the study show that Mardani has used actual and potential Persian language capacities to construct noun phrases. His views have gradually changed over time and, as a result, the number of the noun phrase has declined in his later poems. Placing adjectives at the beginning of noun phrases with extra fraction, making noun phrases without nouns, enlightening against the rules and creating phonetic proportions are the most important anomalies in the construction of the noun phrases in his poems.
