Abstract

With the specific stylistic manners in his eminent works, Vahshi Bafghi has exerted intellectual and literary influences on the literature of his time and after it. His poetry has been favored since the time he lived, and some biographers have referred to it as ‘easy but impossible’; that is, easy to read and understand but hard to imitate. His poems are, indeed, simple, plain, and devoid of ceremonious literary devices and poetic exaggeration. They have been widely favored owing to their love orientation, frequent turns away from the beloved, introversion, frankness and fiery language derived from an inflammatory heart. These features have attracted the attention of many poets and induced them to follow various aspects of his works. In this paper, we seek to compare the works of Vahshi, his contemporary poets and those after him so as to evaluate their verbal and spiritual similarities, to detect the ways he turns away from his beloved, and to identify the aspects of his poetry that have attracted his followers and the public mass.
