Semantic analysis of some verses of Khāqāni Sharvāni's divãn with a Critical Approach to previous interpretations

Abstract

One of the most difficult divãns in the history of Persian poetry is Khāqāni Sharvāni's divãn. In spite of extensive research in recent years about the poetry and thought of this great poet and many unraveling of his difficult and far-fetched divan, there are still many neglected and undiscovered aspects in this divan, whose discovery and solution require the continuation of linguistic and literary research and detailed intratextual and intertextual investigations. With the same aim and with an analytical and semantic approach, the present research has gone to some difficult verses of Khāqāni in order to criticize the previous researches, by reviewing the recording and reading of some words and combinations and their connection with other parts of the speech, and also according to various intratextual linguistic relations will give a new understanding of the concept of Khãqãni's phrases and verses. Based on this, in this research, terms and combinations such as Rūh-ul-Qodos and Rūh-ul-Amin, Mozdūr-e Dãrkhãne-ye Nahal, Zir and Dastūn, Shãhqãm, Khazar and Qondoz, Bãng-e Dozdãn, Raste, Zand, considering some semantic, linguistic and literary nuances, and the intertextual relationships of Persian literature, have been analyzed and investigated, and after analyzing the meaning and discovering the manner of use of each in Khãqãni's speech, a clear and precise concept of verses has been presented.
