Abstract
The ancient water- storage and irrigation systems in Iran are considered as one of the most important artistic architectural works of the country. Massive research has been carried out on the existing qanats, water-storage and irrigation systems in central plateau of Iran. Yet, our systematic knowledge of water-storage systems of the country, outside this area is very insignificant. This article aims at the water -storage systems in one of the Persian Gulf islands, Kish.
While the water exploitation systems are introduced on Kish Island, the details of their hydrological and architectural aspects have also been reviewed. The study indicates that owing to the specific natural conditions of Kish Island, the systems of water-storage has its own particular features and characteristics.
