Abstract
Houshang Ebtehaj is a well-known contemporary lyricist. His pen name is H. A. Sayeh. His interest in Iraqi- style lyrics and his success in following the style of the greatest poet, “Hafiz” is why he has been called “Hafiz” of the time.
One of the special features of the surface structure of his lyrics is the phonetic balance. That is he creates a prominent musical system in his poems by repeating phonemes and syllables.
Result of doing research on his poetic works as well as being proficient in music and being acquainted with the great contemporary musicians such as Meshkatian, Lotfi, and Shajarian. This paper takes into account the phonetic balance and the musical system of his poems which are analyzable in terms of surface structure of this article makes an attempt to compare him to Hafiz.
