Abstract

Goshayesh and Rahayesh is a prose work by Naser Khosrow Ghobadiani written on Ismailia rhetoric. The author promotes philosophical thoughts in a polemic manner, and takes advantage of the potentials and elements of the language to serve his purpose. In the book Goshayesh and Rahayesh, the ideas are expressed with appropriate linguistic constructions. This study investigates the aesthetic properties of the book in relation to ideological issue and examines the author’s linguistic strategies of conveying his points of view. According to the tenets of the text, the research questions to answer are ‘How does the linguistic structure of Goshayesh and Rahayesh reflect the author's ideology?’, ‘Which syntactic elements were of interest to the author?’, ‘With respect to the language of the book, what literary devices are used?’ and ‘What literary arrays has Naser Khosrow used to express her ideological concepts?’ The results of the study indicate that ideology is explicitly reflected in Goshayesh and Rahayesh. The use of rational and narrative arguments as well as philosophical and theological codes shows the dominance of ideological concepts in the text. At the syntactic level, the aspects of verbs, grammatical sounds and accent elements provide a clear picture of the ideological burden of the text. The range of the ideological concepts at the rhetorical level has also limited theological diversity to arrays that have considerable ability to describe the author's attitude and worldview. Therefore, those rhetorical industries that cause ambiguity and multifaceted texts are not seen in Goshayesh and Rahayesh.
