Abstract

The two-sided connection between poetry and painting is a long-standing one. In this research, with a descriptive-analytical and comparative method, Amiri Firouzkouhi's poem "Image" and Shafiei Kadkani's poem "Second Millennium of Mountain gazelle", which are inspired by painting, have been compared. Although both poems are inspired by paintings, at the time of writing the poem, the difference in the subject of the paintings and the different tastes and concerns of the two poets resulted in the formation of two different pieces of poetry. Amiri, in a traditional form and view, pays attention to human beings and human society. Also, in a poetic comparison between man and image, he hopelessly prefers the inanimate image over the human and searches for peace in death. In today's form and look, however, Shafiei remembers the glory of historical and mythical Iran, and, by enumerating the sorrows and joys that happened in this land, he excites the audience with a completely emotional tone, perhaps to revive the lost glory. The poet's epic and emotional tone heralds hope for the future. Therefore, an almost similar source of inspiration has marked the two different paths of life and death in the shadow of two different views and has formed two different pieces of poetry.
