“Kalileh Va Demneh” is one of the Persian literary works being popular
and desirable among people for centuries. Since its creation, it has
established the most stable union with readers. The reason of its success
needs to be investigated not only in term
s of its didactic aspects but also in
theme, structure and narrative form.
“Kalileh Va Demneh” is one of the oldest fables. Fables are some short
stories with animal characters speaking and behaving like human beings.
Fables also offer ethical lessons by
demonstrating moral infirmity of
human
-
like animals. Ironic imitation of human behavior and attribute of
that to animals is one of the basic satiric techniques. Hence, “Kalileh Va
Damneh” can be categorized as a humoristic literary work specially in
moral
and social sense that narrators makes use of animal
-
like tricks for
discussing moral and social downfall of human
-
beings and the people of
the time.
In addition to its satiric style by offering animal

like representation,
“Kalileh Va Demneh” creates humor
ous situations and employs tricks, like
sudden ending, overturn position, or attendance of humorous persona with
awkward misery, silly persona with wrong deduction or clever persona with
correct foresightedness, to create funny adventures
