**Abstract (250 words)**
Travelogues and wonder books are two literary genres that share certain thematic and structural similarities. This study, adopting a descriptive-analytical and comparative approach, aims to explore and analyze the commonalities and distinctions between these two forms of writing through selected examples. Broadly speaking, one of the most significant similarities lies in their focus on introducing various geographical locations. In wonder books, places—such as regions, countries, seas, and islands—are often described separately based on their extraordinary features. Similarly, historical descriptions of cities like Isfahan, Bukhara, and Al-Andalus found in travelogues can also be traced in wonder literature.
Despite these similarities, notable differences exist in terms of purpose and thematic emphasis. The central theme of travelogues is movement from one place to another, while wonder books primarily focus on recounting strange events, marvelous beings, or astonishing stories. In wonder books, the emphasis is on the peculiarity of the event or entity itself; in travelogues, it is on the significance of the place. Although the event and the location are inherently interconnected, each genre highlights a different aspect.
An examination of four selected wonder texts reveals semantic and formal similarities with travelogues, indicating that many ancient wonder books paid attention to places that could easily have been included in travel literature. Through analyzing these overlaps, it can be concluded that classical authors of both genres shared a similar perception toward spaces, events, and geographies when representing specific concepts or incidents. .
